After completing an Ophthalmology Residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York. and a Fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Kent spent 1-½ years in private corneal practice in Syracuse, New York She then moved west to join the Colorado Permanente Medical Group affiliated with Kaiser Permanente in Denver, Colorado in 1991. At Kaiser the majority of her practice involved Cornea and External Disease patients (during that time she performed over 500 corneal transplants). About 25% of her Kaiser practice involved general ophthalmology treating eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. In addition, cataract surgery and pterygium surgery were a large part of her practice. She started performing refractive surgery with the excimer laser (PRK) in 1997.
